We did the things most book clubs do. We picked a book, read as much of it as our busy lives allowed and then got together to drink wine, eat snacks and burst into fits of giggles over whatever shenanigans ensued that evening.

In the midst of all of that, we did manage to discuss the book of choice, and I am glad we did. Those books allowed me to break out of my old ways of thinking and working.

Soon after life got very busy. A few of us had children and we all started new branches of our business ventures. Trying to get everyone together on a regular basis, let alone read an entire book each month became difficult.

However, I still yearn for those great discussions and the growth that can be sparked by a good book. That is why today we are officially launching The Aquin Yoga Virtual Book Club.

This is free and open to everyone in this tribe with the intention of helping us stay connected and engaged beyond the mat.

Even though this is a "yoga" book club, it doesn't mean we will be reading books about the yoga practice. Instead we will choose books to help the modern yogi to live a more inspired life.

The first pick is one I have been reading to cultivate the creative aspects of the Wood element.

It is called The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron.

On retreat last month it was one of the recommendations Steve and I had for everyone to experiment with using creativity as a spiritual practice. I am enjoying it so much I wanted to share it with all of you.

You can learn more about the book club and sign up here (it is free).

The first week of discussion begins on May 19 and if you decide to join us, I will send you everything you need to know before then so you can be part of the conversation. We hope to make this a fun way to keep you inspired and focused on your big picture no matter how busy you are.

Let us know what books you would like to read with the Aquin Yoga Tribe in the comments below.
