If you are someone who pushes yourself to the point of exhaustion and then falls short on your goals, this episode is for you.

In it I will share:

- how you can develop and stretch yourself without being mean to yourself

- when you should and shouldn't "go easy on yourself"

- how spot the negative thoughts you think about yourself and begin to shift them

- the difference between "going easy on yourself" vs. delaying your discomfort

Imagine if I could give you an extra every day to do something important for yourself.

Maybe you would use that hour to practice yoga or meditate.

Maybe you would take the art class, the writing workshop or the online program you have been thinking about but can't seem to squeeze in.

Maybe you would use that time to take a bath, read a book or just get a little more sleep.

You don't need a fancy planner or a magic wand.

What you need is this workbook + the concepts I talk about in this episode to help you change the way you think about time.

I have a treat for all the new parents or soon-to-be parents out there.

We are going back to school with Allison Mecham Evans as we talk about the often jarring transition from being a woman to becoming a mother.

We share our personal experiences, challenges and Allison explains some of the science that has shaped her outlook on the best approaches in the fourth trimester and beyond.

More about Allison Mecham Evans:

Allison Mecham Evans is a birth educator, life coach, and writer. She recently moved back to her home state of Nebraska after 23 years away and now lives in Omaha with her husband and their teenaged daughter and son.

Allison graduated from UNL with degrees in English and French and began her career as a Naval intelligence officer. She served four years in Japan (where she met her husband, Guy, who is still on active service) and Washington, D.C., and then left the Navy to become pursue her dream of becoming a teacher. She earned a master’s degree in English Literature from George Mason University and taught English at community college and private school.

Everything was going according to plan, and then she had a baby! Well, the baby was planned, but birth was totally unexpected and changed everything! She left school teaching and has been an evangelist for empowered birth and mothering ever since.

She certified as a HypnoBirthing educator in 2006 and since then taught women from all over the world while stationed with her husband in London, Japan, and Hawaii. Ep 25: Facing Insecurity

Has this ever happened to you?

Someone says something (likely coming from a harmless place), you start to think some thoughts about it that create the feeling of being insecure.

This happened to me recently and I decided to do an experiement on how to handle it.

Instead of:

yelling at the other person, bursting into tears, pretending nothing was wrong, eating a box of cookies, telling all my friends about it, shaming myself for feeling insecure, holding a grudge for the next 5 years or doing any of the things one does in the face of an emotion I don't like

I did something totally new and processed the emotion in a way that taught me a lot.

If you want to learn how to do this for yourself, I would love to be your guide.

Ep 23: Your Coaching Questions Answered

I work mainly with one-on-one clients and small groups as a Life Coach.

However, a big goal of mine is to help as many people as possible learn the power of managing their minds.

Because of that I like to offer all sorts of free things (like this podcast) and last week I put out the call to all of you to send me a problem or issue you are dealing with and I would coach you.

Today, I answered some questions about dealing with a child's feeling about spending time with her dad and a yoga teacher's relationship with a client who shows up late, doesn't accept help and is disruptive in class.
